Hiroshima Peace Dome Renders

Description

My Lighting and Rendering final. It's a super long story, and I explain it all in my school account postings of these images (~lauraneato1), but in a nutshell, 5 students from my 3D lighting/rendering class volunteered to collaborate with Waseda University (in Tokyo) to create a textured model of the Hiroshima Peace Dome that was destroyed by Little Boy back during World War II. Although the dome is still in ruins today, I thought it'd be a good final project to composite the dome onto its existing location today and make-believe that it is still there. I also provided a historical image... which I do need to tweak a bit when I get spare time, but I won't update the tweak here; I'll update that on my school account in the next few weeks.

I textured the roof of the building, though many thanks go to my classmates Cecilia, Kendra, Angie, and Emily all of whom collaborated with me to make the project. And also to Eric Hanson, our faculty advisor.

When I wasn't pulling my hair out over this, I thought this project was kinda fun. I unfortunately have to do it all over again for my clients. It turns out I lit it from the wrong direction, so I gotta redo about 9 hours of post-render work for them... but that's nothing. I've learned in the field of animation, that a 9 hour project is a piece of cheesecake : D I can't do it from home though... I gotta work at school to do it, so I'm gonna lose a day of my winter break working at school for it, but no problem. I tend to live at school a lot nowadays anyway lol : P

And lol, I'm loling at the "Camera Data" on the side. Somehow the image data from istockphoto.com was preserved with the image that went THROUGH a Maya image render, and then a ton of photoshop tweaking, and then several versions of different saves and tweaking. Amazing!
