I fell in love with
I HAD to color her second to latest piece. Especially since I indirectly inspired it <3 LINE ART © *Renny08 Color © =lauraneato (me) Once again, I only colored this. Line art belongs to the lovely *Renny08! However, if you would like to critique or comment on the line art, you can... I'm sure she's checking this page, but I do encourage everyone to visit her original line art page too: Original Lineart Here: [link] (I modified it slightly, with permission. To see what I changed, click here: [link]) Thank you Renny for drawing such beautiful works. Hopefully I'm able to get your name out there a little bit faster : ) --- Texture credits: Wood: [link] by ~yc Paper: [link] by ~bittered All colored on Photoshop CS2 ---- If you'd like to see the STAGES of this image, and how I color, here's a little special feature for you guys: HOW I COLOR: (but not really. I like to vary my coloring technique all the time): PRE-Production: 1. Set up and modify line art: [link] 2. Map out general shaded areas on separate layer: [link] PRODUCTION: Step 1: [link] <-- choose a general palette for inspiration. Colors will be modified later with filters. Step 2: [link] <-- Set a medium tone as the background. Will assist with lighting and shading. Step 3: [link] <-- Make general foreground colors to test if they work. Sometimes I keep the general sloppiness in my images because I'm just like that, but I do like to clean it up a little bit later. Step 4: [link] <-- Figure out how I want to approach the background. I ended up scrapping this step and going back with the shading because I figured I'd rather follow my guidelines I set for myself when doing the initial ink sketch mapping. Step 5: [link] <-- Background work. Figuring it out. Hide the foreground layers. Step 6: [link] <-- More bg work, and grass layout. Step 7: [link] <-- Finally, foreground is back. This time I shaded along my guideline map. I have a medium color, a shaded color, and highlights. That makes it look more 3D and nice. Step 8: [link] <-- I brought back the foreground color, and applied a color filter over the image to change color levels. I liked the dusky nighttime look better. More pleasing to the eyes and I don't see enough of it on DA. Step 9: [link] <-- Pretty much done! And step 10, submit : D Now go to |
