Artist's Comments
------ I value comments more than favorites. I have more favorites on all my works total than I know what to do with, but your words are golden to me, and I read every single comment I get. DA gets boring if I don't receive commentary feedback. So comment about anything, your life, your grievances, your mom, I don't care. Entertain me D: ------
----- Okay, this piece is either a hit or miss. Depending on your monitor, it could look really cool, or look really really shitty. I colored this on my Cintiq, breaking it out for the first time in 7 months or so because I saw a bunch in Japan and it made me envious of myself for having it and not using it, even if it -doesnt- work in the proper aspect ratio, at least i can color with it. Problem is, the RGB isnt perfect synched, so I thought I was using really kickass colors, but then I dragged it to my laptop monitor screen and poof, the colors shifted to assimilate to my laptop's RGB settings. Anyone know how to fix that? This piece had lots more red in it, but now it looks really green. Ah well, at least you guys get the general idea XD I drew this with my new Japanese 0.3 mechanical pencil while standing up for 4 hours straight during my shift at the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Colored digitally with copics : P Figure that one out! Speaking of Copics... I almost have the entire set now! I think I'm just about 20 short.... I guess that comes with 4 years of collecting the things. I made my entire animation for Production 1 with Copics. I'm going to pencil test the entire animation at some point so you guys can see. Due to USC owning the copyright to the film, I won't be able to show you the really nice quality one unless of course you buy the DVD or go to any film festival it may be in. Due to me submitting this... you should all realize that I finally have a few free hours in my life! And when I say few, I mean a super teeny few, but at least it's something! I have a few more pieces I drew in Japan which I hope to get around to at least basic coloring later on when I get even more free time (until then, I still have my animation to shoot and do sound and music for). I'm getting really rusty with drawing humans and/or anime by hand without my tablet. I've been missing a lot of my figure drawing classes because of working on my animation and needing those hours (and how I needed them!!), so this drawing, which is a "safe" drawing for me, still took me close to 5 hours to sketch (versus 30 - 45 minutes on tablet). No joke. I worked 2 of my anime fair workdays days on it.... God, I'm rusty. And wow, "Fo Homo" paper (a Japanese sketch book brand whose name I get a kick out of) can really take erasures well!! (I destroyed my pencil's entire eraser in the process of making this, and ended up resorting to a mega plastic eraser instead)! It may be a small postcard sized sketch pad (which I love so much I included the binding of it in the scan), but it's mighty hardy! Oh and p.s. the other sketch I did is better than this.... Not a profile "safe" pic, but actually one that involves a pose, woot. Hope I can get around to coloring it soon. P.P.S. If any of you would like to make a digital copic brush for photoshop, the tutorial that I followed is here: [link] P.P.P.S. I still feel I draw Sasuke better than Naruto. P^4.S. Oooh, there's a special little button to receive critiques now! I wonder what this does *presses it* Comments
Love this pic - my monitor(s) laptop and external do not show the 'reds' you were talking about and my external shows the colors as a bit deeper/darker than the laptop.
It's funny you mention about drawing Sasuke better than Naruto, my first thought when I saw this pic was, wow she continues to draw Sasuke so beautifully and in my mind accurately. That being said Naruto looks pretty darn good here as well. Glad you had a bit of time for this and your other drawings you have yet to show. I love it!
-- Hey, check this out if you love Naruto crack [link] "Try not to get too lost in your lies or you'll start to lose everything you ever had..." haha "and in my mind accurately". roflmao, I guess I draw him accurate to my style, really, because rofl, I still have a ways to go before I draw Kishimoto profiles, though honestly, I've stopped trying roflmao
Then again, I dont even know what "accurate" to my own style is either. I keep changing the way I draw him. -- "Don't be sad because it's over. Be glad because it happened." ~ Dr. Seuss I really like it, it's cool!!
You did a great job especially with Sasuke -- "I don't take back my words!" Hey guys!! *GaaraJamiE88 has started doing commissions!! Go check him out!! <3 |
